Friday & time for an oil change.

Happy Friday. I love my job but I do look forward to the weekend. Even if it does involve housework & errands. I also get to play & scrapbook.
Tomorrow I have to go to Woburn to have the oil change thing done on the car. I hate doing that. It is just so boring there...waiting. I wish it was as simple as an oil change for us. When we get sluggish or every 3 months go in to have a tune up...LOL..we could get a little spring in our step. Yea, OK....maybe I didn't get enough sleep last night. Watched Wednesdays episode of LA Ink & finished up a LO & started a new ne.
I have a lot of work I need to do today so I better get to it.

Another Weekend, challenges & more Layouts

So, I have been in my current position at work since September 2008. Before that my schedule was M-Th 6:30a-4:30p....which meant I had a 3 day weekend every week. I really got used to that. Now my schedule is M-F 6a-2p...while I like the shorter days...I really miss that extra day...wah. So that means that I have to do the laundry, clean, do the errands grocery shop AND fit scrapbooking into just 2 days. Oh & I still have to cook breakfast because of how little time Housni & I see each other.
Well, I got away with a lot more last month because of Ramadan. This weekend Housni is sick so I had a chance to do 3 layouts yesterday...Pretty good, but I need to do more.

So I signed up for 8 challenges at scrapbook.com...not to mention the 3 for Scraps of Darkness & at lease 1 for Swirlydoos (which MUST be done today...no pressure)
Anyway, I actually won 2 at SOD...cool. I think there were only 2 entries for one of the challenges & we voted...I voted for the other person...I truly thought hers was better. Mandy is one of the best scrapbookers I have ever seen. I wish I had an 8th of the talent & imagination she has. Imagination...I think that is what I lack...oh & money...LOL

So, below are the 3 I did yesterday.
            Before there were 3
This one is obviously my Mommy & Daddy (& yes, I have and will always call them that). The date on the photo which I snagged from my Mom years ago was January 24...the calendar on the wall is 1961...The journaling says The photo was taken as they celebrated his 17th birthday. Mommy was only 16. Little did they know that in 9 months they would both be holding me. I have always loved this photo of them...they were just babies...so young...but I would not trade that for anything in the world. It was made for the Sept. Monthly Sketch challenge wk 2....it was to use the sketch & the twist was to use only black & white with one other color...my kind of challenge...
      Flowers & Bling
I am only calling it this because it is for another sbc challenge..Lots of Flowers & Bling with the twist being use a butterfly   I hate butterflies....LOL..Anyway, I just could not come up with a name for it. The photo was taken of me in the early to mid 90's. I hated them for the longest time but I don't guess they are too bad.

         Flowers & Bling 2
Original huh?
On the 2 matching ones I use the same color for the background because they are going into my book as facing pages. I used some gold paper I found at AC Moore. The bling was from my stash..several years old..but they were clear crystals & I painted them gold & blue from my alcohol inks...made a mess. The butterfly on the first one was white so I painted the bling & the beads the same blue & the wings with the gold...looks pretty good. The butterfly on the 2nd one I bought from Craftysprinkles Etsy shop & painted it .

I hope you like them Thanks for looking & reading.

Sunday & a Midsummer Night's Dream....

Another Sunday. Seems I was just leaving work on Friday...oh well.
Spent a lot of time in my craft room this weekend. It was the end of Ramadan so Housni went to have a meal with his best friend. I did some things around the apartment & worked on challenges. Posted one yesterday & here is another.
Celina (ScrapVamp) over at Scraps of Darkness has a challenge.."The Darkest Side". Her theme for September was A Midsummer Night's Dream. It could be about the play, Shakespear himself or whatever you could come up with...well, for me it was the title that inspired me. The magical night. Who better than to dream of than Eric from True Blood? Could there be a more perfect photo? I loved the blue tint in the photo. Nope, I found it on the internet...no way I learned anything about photoshop to do this. I used a lot of glitter for the "magic". I sprayed the black paper with silver glimmer mist...after hunting it down for a couple of weeks. There are some tiny stars on the top of the page too. The fairy. Boy was she hard to come by...& expensive. I have seen her in other members of SOD & SD & when this challenge came up, I knew I had to have her. Found I could only get it from Austraila...yea...I think she was $2.90...with shipping it was $22 and change. Celina...all for you...thanks for making me think.
Here's the dream....

Here is the fairy up close. She is a laser cut by Dusty Attic & brown chipboard. I painted her white first so the color would show up. I got the idea of her hair from Mandy at SOD...nakes it look better. I painted her wings silver, & the rose had to be red. I used stickles on that & her outfit.
Hope you like it. Was a lot of work.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

It has been a busy weekend.

I really haven't been sitting at my scrap table ALL weekend...but I have been there a lot. I just have ideas & challenges I wanted to do & with a 4 day weekend it has been my chance.

On Saturday I went out all day with my friends Kathy & Kathy...nope, not a mistake...two Kathy's. We went to eat at Texas Roadhouse, my favorite place, then went shopping...2 scrapbook stores in New Hampshire, Michael's & AC Moore... did not spend a lot of money...only got a few things. After all the shopping we went to this old fashioned candy store/ice cream parlor...great ice cream. All in all a fun day.
Sunday I did the regular house things, cleaning & such but I also worked on layouts. Today, I actually slept in...till a whopping 7:30am...hey, don't laugh...I am up before the birds usually...4am, so 7:30 was a welcome site.

I worked on a couple of projects today, finished 1. It was made from (can you guess?) yup, the August Scraps of Darkness kit...it is a double page LO for a challenge over at scrapbook.com.
I titled it The Lady Wore Black...I always loved that song by Queensryche..& it fit.
I hope you like it..fairly simple & not really my style, but it had to be made from a sketch.

It is my nephew Hayden. Isn't this laugh beautiful? I sure think so. The photo was taken in July this year.

Scraps of Darkness

Sounds cool huh. I was looking around on another sleepless night & came across a website called Scraps Of Darkness. Now being a scrapbooker I knew was curious. I clicked on it & OMG...it was a site for scrapbooking kits "for the alternative scrapper". They have darker papers & such. Well it had my name all over it so of course I joined. That was back in July...I love it.
Well, I got my first kit & I have just been a maniac creating layouts with it.
Below are the layouts I have made using the kit.
The first 2 photos are of me taken in the late 80's. The photo just worked so well with the papers in the kit.
This is my sister Karen...I am sure she loves it that I post layouts that have her pictures in them for all the internet to see...

My Daddy when he was about 9 years old.
