Heritage

I have been looking through some photos wondering what to scrap. I just cannot believe the amount of photos I have. I just think I will share some with you.
This is my Grandpa Doughty. Picture was taken in his home office sometime in the 50's. He had all sorts on things going on from this office.

Grandpa Doughty again. Photo taken in June 1983. I just adored him. He was a character. He would do things like play a record & record the date on a note card he kept inside the record sleeve. Everytime..LOL
He had a great Train set he used to have set up in his living room. I remember when I was in Junior high & High school, I would want to talk to him about my history homework. He knew things...he was very intelligent. He was seriously opinionated. I loved that about him. He spoke his mind & you never really knew what was going to come out of his mouth.

I know this is a bit dark. Hopefully you can see it. This is my Mom when she was 14, in 1958...WOW. I love the very basic composition of this photo. The background is awesome.  Oh & she pretty much never changed, she was only 5 ft, & never weighed more than 115 (even when she was pregnant) She was tiny. I miss her so much. They say it gets easier. So far I am not seeing that.
March 1955. My Mom & her brother Earl. She was 11 here. I look at this photo & see myself. I have never really thought I took after her as much as my Dad, but this is pretty awesome.

Anyway. I think I found what I want to work on so I will go do that. Thanks for looking.

Which brings us to January

Well, January was a very low keyed month. Pretty much work and home, making Jack a very dull boy.
Oh wait, I did take Housni to the MOS to see the Pompeii exhibit. He was pretty impressed. But other than that just stayed home.
I did work pretty hard on Layouts & projects. Can't post the LO's because they are going to someone very special later on in the year. I have to start early so I do not get hit with a deadline & an incomplete book.

November/December 2011

Going to finish up the last of the year so I can get moving.

November was a very different month. Housni went on vacation for 4 weeks & I am left here. BUT, instead of focusing on the fact that he is gone & I miss him...I focus on the fact that "HE IS GONE" Whew....alone time...me time...do what I want, when I want time. Oh, I do still miss him, but after almost 10 years, it's OK.

I did my normal everyday things, but I moved furniture, scrapped nearly everyday, & actually went out with friends not feeling guilty that it was my only time to spend with the hubby.

Had my long lost dear friend Katy over for a long weekend. Started when she arrived around 8 Thursday night, I made us some pasta, we ate then headed to MGH, took my friend Kathy some pasta, then it was off to the midnight show of Breaking Dawn Pt. 1.

OK, so we were by far the oldest in the crowd...but we had a great time. Katy Lou however had to drive from New York...took her about 6 hours so she was a bit on the tired side & napped during the movie...it provided more entertainment for Kathy & myself.
After the movie we went outside (pretty cold night) to wait for a Taxi..you cannot park in downtown Boston.
Taxi never got there..we were pretty much the only people on tht part of Tremont St at almost 3am...but we are pretty close to the Theater District..as we are standing there police cars, and ambulances are wailing down the street.   Finally a taxi.
Get home and in bed at around 4:30. We have another busy day ahead of us that begins at about 6:30.
I get up take a shower, cook breakfast while the others are showering & getting ready. We ate & headed out the door at 8:30 on our way to Danvers...to see Yup, Breaking Dawn...LOL. We needed to process it.
Saw the movie, went to eat lunch at Buffalo Wing Stop whatever it's called. It was good. Then we took a little shopping trip. Went to Topsfield to Absolutely Everything. Then headed up to Manchester, NH to go to Hobby Lobby. I so love that store. Then we went to the Land's End outlet store. Then to eat at oh I forgot the name of the place but it was good & headed home. Boy were we tired.
Sunday morning we had breakfast & Kathy got here early & we headed out to the Museum of Science. The Pompeii exhibit is there.

It turned out to be pretty great. By late afternoon we were exhausted. Headed home for dinner & crashed early. I took the day off on Monday, we made bbq briskit in the crock pot. We then scrapped all day...was really fun.
I went to work on Tuesday but Katy stayed & scrapped...she left Wednesday morning.
I made a few more shopping trips during the month, but pretty much stayed close to home.

It's December already...wow, year flew by. Housni came home on the 5th & it was back to reality. His schedule changed & it was pretty traumatic to both of us, but we have to have jobs so we get over it.
Christmas came & went without fanfair. I spent the day alone as Housni was sleeping, but I spoke to my family on the phone.
Now ready for the new year.

An October to Remember.....

So, October was a busy month. Mostly with everyday stuff at home and work. But I decided to take a quick trip to Dallas. I know...I just went in September, but this was going to be a non stop whirlwind super fun trip.
I left Boston on Friday 10/14/11. Arrived in Dallas about midnight...had to go stand in line for my reserved rental...you would think that wasn't a big deal, but an hour later I was finally in my rental headed to my sisters house just a mere 25 mins away. Not so fast there...the highway that leaves DFW goes straight to her house is CLOSED. Well, I have to take a different highway that took me half way around Dallas & to her house the back way. Well it was almost 3 before I got in bed...jeeze I was tired...but not much time for sleep.
Up at 7am to go grocery shopping as I am having a small get together at the house on Sunday during the day.
After the grocery store I get back to the house, put things away & get dressed for the day. But only after I learn there are still tickets for the Ranger game that night...a post season division championship game. Well, have CC will travel. I get tickets, head out the door to have lunch in Allen with one of my BFF's Tiffany & her wonderful family (Paul & Marilyn) who I love just as much a my own family at....get ready....El Chico. We had a great lunch.
Had to get going though we have a long drive to Arlington to see my beloved Rangers. Stop in Plano to pick up my other BFF Susan & head out to Arlington...Now this is no small feat...Arlington & Allen are not even in the same county, & Texas is known for it's size...LOL
Get to The Ballpark in Arlington. I so love that place. Get our picture taken outside then head in. Wow, I had only been to a thousand games there but this was different. A division playoff. I had never been to anything above a forst round playoff. This was for the World Series. It was electrifying. Well, the Rangers ended up winning....It was so exciting to be there since I have been such a big fan for such a long time...

Once the game ended & team met on field
we were headed to the World Series, second time in 2 years & only the second time in team history. We were there till after 1am...yes, a long day after only a few hours sleep...but hey, you only live once.
Back home around 3am. Take a nap because I have to get upat 6 & begin cooking. We have roasted potatos, BBQ beef ribs in the crock pot, beef stew in the crock pot & dessert that I seem to not remember what it was. It took forever to chop up all those veggies & get it all in the crock pot. I think I laid down about 9am for almost an hour, but back up to finish cooking & talk to my sissy.
Family started arriving at 11, man I could use a nap. We had a great day, talking & eating. I seriously miss them.

About 6 I have to start getting ready for the night....this is the night I had been waiting for since June...my favorite band of all time was on tour for their Farewell tour. Judas Priest. Kenny & I went, it was in a sort of small venue, Allen Center. Was a good spot though. They finally came on stage & it was like an instant time machine back to the 80's. I LOVED it. It was good, Rob Halford still has it.
Well, concert over, back home then taking yet another nap, as I had to be up for another adventure. Out the door by 9am, had to go shopping along the way...you cannot get short sleeved tops in Boston in October so I had to do it in Dallas, since it was still in the high 90's. After that I headed to Oak Cliff to see my most favorite person in the whole world (OK it's a tie with Housni) Kenny. We hang out at his apartment for a bit then to the State Fair.

Howdy Folks, Welcome to the State Fair of Texas
I haven't been there in years like over 10. I so wanted to go again. I rode a couple of rides...ferris wheel & the gondolas...took a few pics. It was hot....I mean crazy horrible Texas heat. I ate a corney dog & a funnel cake...ummmmmm.

Had fun, but the rest of the time was spent indoors at the pavillion where it was air conditioned. LOL
Headed home around 4, then out to eat with friends at you guessed it...El Chico...could I please get one of those in Boston? Anyway, back home to pack...have to be at the airport at 4am Tuesday morning.
Finally back in Boston around 1pm...man do I need sleep...7pm cannot get here fast enough. Back to work on Wednesday.
All in all I wouldn't take any of it back. The rest of the month was pretty normal & low keyed.

September 2011

Happy Birthday to me month. I love my birthday. I wish Mommy was here to celebrate with me. At least she is in my heart.

I decided to go home to Dallas to share my big 5-0 with my Daddy & other family members.

I spent the day with my BFF Susan D. Of course we ate at El Chico, then went shopping. That night I went to Daddy's house to what else, go eat at El Chico...sensing a pattern here? Afterwards we went back to his house. My sister came over with my FAVORITE cake...Hershey Cake. It was so incredibly good. All in all I had a good day, spent with those I love most.

I spent a day at the Dallas Aquarium/Zoo..it was indoors & actually pretty big. I had never been there before. I went with Kenny, Kristina, Justina & Austin. All in all, they were pretty well behaved.

The rest of the trip was just going from place to place, seeing my Dallas peeps.

My sweet Kenny took a few photos of me for my birthday. I did a layout using one of the poses.

I know I keep saying this....

I am going to try this again. At least every couple of weeks. Not like I don't have 10 mins to sit at the computer when I get home. Crossing my fingers. I will start with a Month in review. I may have to go back a few....we shall see.
